Is there a Time Limit for Workers’ Compensation?

Is there a time limit for me to file a workers compensation claim after I am injured on the job?

Yes, although the length of time you have to file a claim depends on several factors, such as which state you live in and the nature of your illness or injury.  In Maryland the time limit to file a claim is generally one year for an occupational illness, which is a long term chronic condition such as carpal tunnel syndrome, and two years for an accidental injury, such as a concussion, contusion, broken bone, or numerous other injuries. In any event, if you are injured or become ill on the job you should report the incident immediately to your employer.  Since the time frame you have to file your claim can depend on some complicated factors, it is in your best interest to hire an experienced workers’ compensation attorney to represent you so that you can get the maximum possible benefits.
