Occupational Disease

A disease or other impairment obtained as the result of adverse conditions or substances present in the work setting.  Examples include asbestosis, mesothelioma, hearing loss, and carpal tunnel, among others.  Our workers' compensation calculator does not do a sufficient job in estimating benefits for occupational disease cases.  Please contact a workers' comp lawyer to discuss the matter.

Other Cases

Injuries for which there is not a prescribed number of "weeks" of compensation are known as "other injuries."  Other injuries are usually, but not always, the larger recovery cases.

Overtime

Compensation received, in addition to regular wages, for working more than 40 hours in a seven-day period.  Overtime may be considered when calculating the employee's average weekly wage.
